Appliqué is a time-honoured craft deeply rooted in both Tibetan and Ladakhi traditions. Commonly seen in monastery banners, ceremonial tents and sacred textiles, the technique involves layering and stitching cut pieces of fabric to form intricate, decorative motifs that hold both visual and cultural significance.
Inspired by this heritage, the Bakhor Appliqué Laptop Sleeve brings the appliqué tradition into a contemporary, functional form. Bakhor, meaning the central or sacred area in many Tibetan towns, evokes a sense of place, tradition and cultural memory – making it a fitting name for a piece that offers both protection and meaning.
The sleeve is handcrafted from thick, heavy-duty cotton canvas, with a padded interior lined in cotton featuring stripes printed in a complementary tone adds a touch of playfulness. Finished with two sturdy YKK zips and subtle leather detailing, this sleeve balances cultural depth with everyday utility.
