Grandfather | Tibetan Nomad Family Doll

Popo-la is the grandfather of the nomadic family doll set. Jovial with his white moustache and cowboy hat, he always has stories to share, including many anecdotes from his long, long life. Popo-la is the Tibetan word for grandfather.

The dolls are handcrafted and serve as an educational tool for children, showcasing Tibetan culture through diverse attire and jewellery. Each piece is handmade with Himalayan sheep wool and fabric scraps. The Tibetan Nomad Doll Set is exceptionally well-made by a fair-trade enterprise based in the valley of Dharamshala, in the Northern Indian Himalayas that employs women from the local Tibetan and Indian community. Their aim is to empower the artisans by training them in new skills and creating meaningful, income-generating, and enjoyable work opportunities within a homely and supportive environment. Additionally, they focus on creating a series of high-quality, child-friendly dolls inspired by Tibet’s unique culture.
