This series is a fusion of Tibetan heritage and Japanese aesthetics, expressed through meticulously crafted paper collages. Each artwork portrays a Tibetan woman in traditional attire, intricately assembled from Japanese Yuzen washi from Tokyo collected during the artist’s travels. The detailed beadwork, ornate jewellery, and layered brocades reflect the richness of Tibetan craftsmanship, while the bold red circle—a reference to the Japanese flag—creates a striking visual contrast.
By placing Tibetan figures within a Japanese-inspired composition, the series explores the intersections of culture, tradition, and identity. The choice of paper, patterns, and textures serves as a bridge between the artist’s personal journey and the enduring narratives of both Tibet and Japan.
