Artist Series : Ngoshi

Tibetan artist Ngoshi redefines traditional narratives through her masterful paper collages. From a young age, Ngoshi nurtured a deep passion for drawing and imagination – a spark that, despite early practical detours, ultimately led her back to art after an MBA and a period of dedicated volunteer work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she encountered striking images of traditional Tibetan dress, and the vibrant colours and intricate patterns of these garments became the catalyst for her renewed creative journey.
In her work, Ngoshi employs a diverse range of papers and materials – ranging from carefully selected sheets to thoughtfully repurposed remnants like texture paper, aluminium foil, chocolate wrappers, or cigarette packaging – to create meticulously crafted pieces that speak to the beauty of Tibetan heritage. Each collage is a considered composition that not only reflects her personal evolution but also celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of her ancestry. By engaging with both traditional motifs and contemporary techniques, her art offers a visual language that communicates complex ideas without the need for words.
Ngoshi’s creative process is both deliberate and instinctive; she allows the inherent qualities of her materials to guide her work, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Her approach underscores a profound commitment to authenticity and the celebration of cultural identity.
